The Adaptable Team Leader Open Programme
What reputation do you wish to build as a Team Leader?
Leadership, while an increasingly overused word, ultimately comes from a sense of ‘identity’.
How you see yourself to be; the purpose which drives you; the values and beliefs you hold about yourself and others; and how this is translated into the skills you develop, the behaviours you display, and the environment you create around yourself.
Do not underestimate the impact you have as a leader.
Your success and reputation depend not just on expressing your individual talent and ability but on enabling your team to excel, adapt and thrive.

Developing Your Leadership Qualities
Great teams are core drivers of organisational success, because they remain the environment in which work gets done. They are, in short, your greatest weapon in a difficult, uncompromising and challenging economic environment.
Great teams have a sense of unity and shared purpose, they know how to work together well and how to resolve conflicts, they learn from each other and are energizing to be a part of. Their performance can be relied upon in tough times and is revered in good times.
However, they do not achieve this by accident, but through deep, intentional and transformative work on the part of you – the team leader.
The quality of team leadership remains the single most important factor in the performance, development, and well-being of a team, with research showing that the culture of a team is influenced by between 60% and 80% by the leader of the team (Google Aristotle study).
Despite this, there is a scarcity of leadership programmes that focus on where leadership is primarily demonstrated and experienced – within a team.

The Benefits for Organisations
Investing in team coaching is not just about developing the leaders of teams, it supports an entire organisation’s resilience by developing strength in depth. Team members will intuitively adopt the leadership styles they believe deliver success. They want to see successful leaders as much as become successful leaders.
Subsequently organisations with strong leadership pipelines and coaching cultures see tangible benefits:
- Enhanced Team Collaboration & Productivity – Team coaching fosters open communication, psychological safety, and trust, which are crucial for high-functioning teams. Research from Google’s Project Aristotle found that psychological safety is the top predictor of effective teams.
- Stronger Decision-Making & Problem-Solving – Leaders who are trained to coach their teams develop critical thinking and problem-solving abilities, resulting in faster and more effective decision-making.
- Improved Organisational Agility & Resilience – In uncertain times, adaptability is key. Companies that embrace a coaching culture actually improve performance in volatile markets (Human Capital Institute 2014)
- Higher Employee Engagement & Retention – Studies show that companies investing in leadership development experience a 20-30% increase in employee engagement, leading to lower turnover rates (Gallup, 2022).
Learning Objectives
There are many leadership development programmes. Some are very good. Yet the range of topics covered within a leadership curriculum often means that ‘team leadership’ is never explored in depth. This course invites you to explore how you personally work with your team and how you can get the best out of them.
To lead requires others to follow and running a team is a process that exploits your own leaderships skills to provide a forum for other team members to shine and prosper and this will drive performance.
Healthy, high-performing teams deliver better results. And these results drive the visibility of your own leadership within the organisation and among your peers.
What will you learn?
- Put simply, how to get the best out of your team and in addition, what you expect from your team to get the best out of you.
- How to have difficult conversations and turn these into open and honest discussions.
- An insightful examination into your preferred ways of working using well validated psychometric tools.
- What sustains performance in teams over time and how you can embed this in your working rhythm.
Ultimately, this course asks the question of you: ‘how do you lead your team to thrive and deliver results that outperform your competitors?’ It provides answers through a mix of workshops and real interactive examples with industry peers.
The programme will require your participation across all the workshops and will involve a small amount of preparatory work.
In addition, a pre and post-assessment of your team is conducted to give you insight into how your learning and actions are being received by the team and how they are adapting.

Why Us?
The Centre for Teams has been supporting senior and executive teams from a broad variety of sectors, both within UK and internationally for over twenty years. We are dedicated to supporting teams and their leaders to excel.
“Made me realise how much I took the team for granted. This has been so useful to uncover the gaps in our joint efforts as a team. It’s left me really inspired to change and hopefully improve.” David, Merlin Entertainments Group.
This programme has been designed as a means of sharing this knowledge and experience of what works, while harnessing the extensive knowledge and experience of participants, to translate awareness into action and enable leaders, to demonstrate, with increasing confidence, their ability to nurture, strengthen and inspire their team’s effectiveness and long-term impact.
Structure & Logistics
The programme takes place over 9 months with a mixture of residential and virtual workshops. In between these, some work will be required either in preparation for the workshops or related to the psychometric and Adaptable Team Assessment exercises.
